You Really, Really Do Not Have to Suffer Through Hair Loss
If you’re reading this, you might just be like me. I was thirty-five years old when I first noticed that I was going bald. My son, who was four years old at the time, noticed a balding spot on the crown of my head before I did! The following year was incredibly bad, filled with confusion, anxiety, self-pity and helplessness. I was sure that my hair loss was something that I was going to be stuck with - that I couldn’t do a thing about it!
Well, nothing could be further from the truth. You see, after the initial shock wore off I began to do a little research. There are so many articles, ads, testimonials and suggestions surrounding hair loss as a problem that the first thing I came to realize was that this is an old problem - ancient! Second thing was that people have been trying to solve hair loss basically since recorded time began - with varying levels of success.
My job, then, became one of sifting through all of the information that I could find, researching different products, separating the good ideas and products from the bogus ones and putting together a plan to attack my own hair loss. One thing became clear very quickly: a healthy lifestyle is a critical component to treating hair loss. A gorgeous head of hair will not grow on a polluted body! I had to clean up my act. Here are a few of the more important decisions that helped me completely rid myself of hair loss as a problem in my life:
* Interestingly, fatty animal proteins are linked to hair loss. Did you know that there are very few reported cases of hair loss in pre-WWII Japanese men? But once the Japanese diet was Westernized - and contained more animal protein - instances of hair loss began to climb. I’m not a vegetarian today, but I limit the amount of red meat that I eat; it’s a good healthy practice for a number of reasons, and hair loss is just one.
* Indications are clear in almost every body of work done in this area that stress and insufficient rest lead to physiological and psychological stress, and these will lead to hair loss. The solution? Get plenty of rest and exercise. Exercise is known to reduce stress, and it raises your metabolism and increases circulation, which is good for healthy hair growth. Good quality rest is essential for overall good health, and sleep is rest at its best. Find a form of exercise that keeps makes you happy - for me it is jogging - and gets you tired so sleep comes naturally.
* On the subject of hair care, the course of action is also very simple - be kind to your hair. No pulling or biting. No hot air driers. And find a shampoo that is gentle. The lathering components in some shampoos may make plenty of rich lather, but they can also be very harsh and hard on your hair. Find a shampoo that is gentle and recommended for thinning hair; it will contain less irritants that may dry hair and scalp, which will lead to a healthier head of hair.
* Finally - by far the most common cause of hair loss in both men and women is associated with a hormonal derivative of testosterone known as DHT which, while in the bloodstream, tends to thicken scalp skin cells and starve hair follicles, inhibiting new hair growth. DHT production in body can be inhibited using minoxidil which is approved by the FDA for just that - reducing DHT production and stimulating hair growth. It’s available in a number of over-the-counter products, and it works - at least for me.
The hardest parts of attacking my own hair loss had to do with lifestyle changes. One of the easiest parts was choosing a product that contained minoxidil, testing it on myself, gauging results and sticking with the best one. For me, it’s Provillus. Provillus embodies my own philosophy when addressing hair loss - it contains at least five active ingredients that have shown evidence of stopping hair loss or promoting hair growth and so attacks hair loss from many different angles - all in one product. I tried a number of different products for hair loss before I found Provillus, but I’ve been using it now for several years and my hair loss is not a problem any more.
In fighting hair loss, be persistent and optimistic. Your hair loss can be beaten! The relief that you can find in eliminating this problem from your life is enormous, and all it takes is persistence. Find a hair loss treatment that works for you. Provillus is a good place to start, as it has been proven to work for millions of others.
