Weight Loss Tips: Tips for Healthy Children’s Menus

by Joel Riley

Kids can be very picky when it comes to eating. For this reason alone, taking them out to eat can be a daunting experience

Most fast food restaurants don’t offer healthy foods on their menus, so we are left little options. Kids can be restless when waiting for the food to arrive, but with patience they can learn proper table manners as well as healthier eating habits.

If you must go to a fast food restaurant, try to avoid the kid’s meals unless they offer healthy substitutes like fruit instead of fries. They usually contain fattening foods like chicken nuggets and fries.

Sure we’d all love to eat that double cheese burger, but is it really the best option? Trying a grilled chicken sandwich in its place may be a satisfying alternative for those who are health conscious

If your child throws temper tantrums in public then hit the to-go bar and take the meal and the child to a different surrounding. Perhaps eating in a park and then some strenuous play afterwards will burn off the residual energy and help the child to calm down a bit.

If you are going out to a sit down dinner, then it is wise to take some paper, pencils and crayons along to keep the kids entertained. It may be awhile before the food arrives and little kids need constant stimulation.

This helps encourage them to eat healthier choices for their meals because they don’t develop a reliance on drive-through fare. Try to make compromises on their food choices.

By offering them a choice in what they have to eat, you may find your kids are more prone to making healthy informed dietary choices

If you can find new recipes, or “hide” ingredients, you may be able to get your kids to eat their fruits and veggies in deference to junk food. Be firm and inventive and always make food fun for kids.
