Improve Memory By Self Hypnosis: First You Must Believe

by Kyle Richey

If you think of hypnosis, perhaps you think of having someone stand in front of you with a swinging pendulum telling you that you are very sleepy. However, that particular “stage act” version of hypnosis is pretty inaccurate. And in fact, you can use self-hypnosis to improve your life. How?

Self hypnosis can help you quit smoking, it can help you get rid of depression and it can even help you improve your memory. You can improve your memory by self hypnosis by getting rid of any mental blocks that are preventing you from adequately remembering things. First, you must learn how to engage in self hypnosis. Then, once you have the process down, you can do all sorts of things, including improving your memory by self hypnosis.

First, Close Your Eyes and Just Relax

If you want to begin to improve your memory with self-hypnosis, close your eyes and relax your body. Breathe deeply and rhythmically until your pulse slows down and you feel your body relax. If you’re having trouble relaxing, concentrate on your toes and follow yourself mentally all the way up your body to your head, telling yourself to relax each body part slowly and surely. As you do so, concentrate on each part until it is fully relaxed before you move on to the next. Once you have done this, take a deep breath once again and count backwards from 10.

One way to do this is to imagine yourself at the top of a staircase descending the stairs. You begin with “10″ at the top of the stairs, followed by “nine” as you descend to the next step, then eight, seven, six, and so on. Once you hit the bottom, which will be “zero,” you should be relaxed and in a light trance. Here, you begin to improve your memory by using self-hypnosis.

Using Commands to Yourself

You can improve your memory by self hypnosis by merely repeating to yourself, once you are in a completely relaxed and hypnotic state, that you want to improve your memory. Whenever you hear anything, or read anything, you will have no problem retrieving that information when you need to.

When you are in your self-hypnotic trance and you begin to speak to yourself in this manner, in fact you are speaking to your subconscious. This is how hypnotists can get you to do things you normally wouldn’t do. He or she speaks to your subconscious mind. This gets your ego (and therefore any blockages as well) out of the way so that you can access what you need to and aren’t blocked. You can also tell yourself as part of your self-directive under hypnosis that you won’t have any mental blocks anymore and that they will dissolve.

Self-hypnosis can be a great way to improve your memory and can really work. First, though, you have to believe that it works. This is perhaps the most important thing that you can do for yourself when you engage in self-hypnosis.

If you wish, you can buy video and audiotapes that will help you improve your memory with self-hypnosis. These tapes or videos will give you step-by-step instructions that will help you relax and then you can command your subconscious to begin to act in ways that will improve your memory. Again, however, you have to believe that it’s going to work in order for to actually work. If you do, though, as you keep practicing, you will begin to remember more than you thought possible previously, and may in fact eventually end up with a near-perfect memory.
