Have you ever noticed that a vulture soars high in the sky but its eyes are always cast on the charnel pits where carcasses of animals are burnt.-Bhagvan Ramakrishna

I have always been a hero of sorts, my deeds are lightning quick, fixed and unyielding, equally, so shall I die. There is no question of vanquish and none what so ever of victory. Shall I never give ground from a good fight, when it never crossed my mind before? In every attempt there are catastrophe and triumph. Something deep within me tells me that to live in cowardice is sure to bring about demise and be reawaken as a lowly pest such as a maggot. Cowardice offers no escape, although the eons may pass away with full recompense. Therefore, shall I be censured as a lowly maggot?

The world is merely our earthly recreational area with lessons to be learned along the way, it shall ever remain so. Is there successful productivity In fretting for months on end concerning our questioning or our own loss or gain, disgrace or honor concerning this mortal live we live daily? I flourish in action. So many are ready and willing to offer their personal advice as to what to do about this thing or that. One man makes threats, while another wobbles from fear. In my opinion, this mortal live is no agreeable pleasant thing that would keep me wanting to remain and endure so much care, vigilance or apprehension.

Life, family, friends and money as well as the love of men such as myself, if one wishes to enter into the labor at hand fully guaranteed before doing so concerning all of these, if a soul is provoked with dread and indecision, then they shall find themselves as the vultures in having what they want. - Swami Vivekananda

I want to share a special story with you today.

In southern India, there was a steep, rocky high mountain. No one had ever climbed to the top of this mountain. However, one day 100 souls committed themselves to reach the mountaintop. They were clueless of the time it would take to reach the summit. However, they each were determined for success. To begin with, they all helped each other. However as the days passed them by, there were some who were better able to cover more ground and left the others behind.

The man who was ahead of everyone was very happy and pleased that he had beaten everyone. He was surging ahead with a rapid pace, determined to reach to the top of the mountain before anyone else. The other people in the group were also equally resolved to succeed. They looked upon this man, knowing his reputation, for inspiration and motivation. They talked at length about him his character, his confidence and personality, and admired him.

Their climb continued each person covering sufficient ground every day and making progress. Days turned to months and months to year but the journey went on. The man who led the race could see from a distance the top of the mountain but the more he advanced towards the summit he found more extra ground to cover. When he looked back at the height he had already covered it gave him tremendous satisfaction and the confidence to master the remaining distance. Meanwhile the distance between him and the others had also widened depending on the progress made by each of them.

A small child who lived in the village was watching all those upon the mountain, since his father was part of the group. Ten years past and the child’s father had not returned to his home. The child so desperately wished to see his father once more. However, he did not know what to do. The whereabouts of the child’s father was a mystery to his mother, she had no idea how to find him. Before giving up, the child began questioning the elders of the village, seeking their advice. However, there was no one there who could be of assistance. Eventually the boy came across a wise old man. This man told the child that there was a wide river that flowed behind the steep mountain and that there was a charming island at the far end of the river. The old man told the child that perhaps his father was at the lovely island and that he could show him the way to reach the island within a week’s time and that he would have to pass through a thick dark forest.

The boy was overjoyed, bold and determined to find his father as he agreed to cross the forest so deep.

The old wise man wrote two words upon a paper and told the boy that on the third day of his forest journey that he would meet someone. He instructed the boy to give the paper to the person he met and that they would help him go to meet his father.

The child became very excited. After receiving a blessing from the wise old man, the boy took the note and began his journey towards the forest.

The child met a very strange man in the forest on the third day of his journey. The child promptly handed the note over to this man as the wise man had told him to do. Upon reading the note this man grabbed up the child, slapped him very hard and then tied him to the nearest tree, using strong rope. The child became upset and began to cry. He was hungry for not eating for the past two day and he had no idea what in the world was going on. He cried bitter tears, since he thought this man would help him to meet his father. However this awful man was beating on him and tying him up.

The stranger was the leader of a tribal community, he informed the boy that noon tomorrow that he would be killed and offered up as a sacrifice to the God of the Forest. The stranger paid the boy no mind as he pleaded for mercy and release.

The boy wondered why the wise man would be so cruel as to lie to him,, and wondered why he would do him this way. He wept and then soon fell fast asleep. A vision came to him as God appeared before him. The boy told God of the happenings in his life, with tears rolling down his face. He then asked God for help.

God took the child tenderly in his arms as he knelt down beside him. He then whispered two words in the ears of the child. God told him that when the morrow came that he should utter these words to the tribal leader and that he would be free and then able to meet his father. As God bid the child farewell, he kissed him.

At the break of dawn the tribal leader arrived. The little child’s face beamed as he smiled. He uttered the two words as he was instructed to do
