Have a Relaxing Break in Benidorm
Benidorm is located on the Costa Blanca and has very comfortable temperatures, which is why it’s so popular with holidaymakers. Benidorm is almost certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Costa Blanca. It is so hot during the summer and it rarely rains, this causes people to flock there in their droves! There is a wide selection of different food available in this area, and you get to learn about the traditions and cultures of the city.
Benidorm was named by the Arab settlers and has a very long history. First the Phoenicians settled in the city, then Romans, Arabs and Catholic kings were all residents at one time or another in history. The Arabs made the biggest mark on the growth of Benidorm.
You can still find remains of each of these different civilizations, you may even find some beautiful architecture if you look hard enough. However Benidorm isn’t just about the history, there is also a lot of other things to do. You can spend hours during the day relaxing on the golden sandy beaches. There is also a lot to do during the night. Benidorm actually means beni = well and dorm = sleep, it really means good sleep, however few tourists ever get around to sleeping there.
Getting around in Benidorm
Most people will hire a car to get around during their cheap holiday in Benidorm. In a hire car it will take you around 20 minutes to get from the Alicante airport to the city.
You will first come across a very beautiful hotel which is located on the beach front. There is a four star hotel called the Bali, this is the highest hotel located in Europe. It was opened two years ago and has an amazing unique style.
You will probably want to check out the beautiful 3 mile long beach in Benidorm. This is a very beautiful and popular beach which is separated into three separate sections. If you take a look at a map, you will see that the beach to the right hand side is Levante, the one to the left is Poniente.
Levante is more of a lively beach area with many younger restaurants, and music. On this beach you will also find a wide selection of different water sports, there is the very popular banana ride for the kids, surfboarding, sailing and even waterskiing. There is pretty much something for everyone!
Poniente is a quieter beach but is further away from the centre of the city. This is popular with people wanting to relax in peace and quiet. You can spend a long time on the beach as it doesn’t start to get cold until around 8:30pm. If you want to explore then you could consider checking out some of the smaller coves.
