Sporting News Rookie Curtis Painter made his NFL debut Sunday when he relieved Peyton Manning late in the third quarter of a 29-15 loss to the Jets. Painter’s inaugural performance was inauspicious as he completed only four of 11 passes for 44 yards and an interception. He also was sacked twice—including one by Calvin Pace that forced a fumble that the Jets recovered for a touchdown.
