Golfers who love this game know Myrtle Beach as being the golf capitol of the World. Myrtle Beach, also known as the Grand Strand, a sixty mile stretch which runs from Pawley’s Island South Carolina to the Sunset Beach/ Holden Beach area in North Carolina, has a lot more to offer than just golf. The overwhelming popularity of golfing vacations in this area is due to the 90 courses, 2500 restaurants, shopping malls, golf superstores, golf schools, the many different types of nightlife and the fact that we are located on the beach. You can choose from many different kinds of Myrtle Beach golf packages or bring your entire family to an Oceanside paradise.

Myrtle Beach has an incredible variety of golf courses to offer. There are low country courses and links. Here you can golf in many different courses offering different terrain in one single golfing vacation. There are also courses on bluffs which overlook the Intra Coastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. These courses offer the additional challenge of ocean winds; sure to thrill golfers who like a challenging course. The Grand Strand is the home of 9 of Golf Digest’s top 100 public courses in America - Tidewater, Heritage, Barefoot Fazio, Barefoot Love, Caledonia, Tigers Eye, True Blue, Rivers Edge and Myrtle Beach Kings North. Myrtle Beach offers courses perfect for newcomers to the game as well as the most experienced golfers. There are so many courses on the Grand Strand that you can start off with a morning tee time and finish the day in an entirely different setting! The tough part is deciding which course to play first! Keep in mind that many of the courses are booked solid during the spring season, so book your Myrtle Beach golf vacation early to ensure a tee time.

There are condo developments and resorts nearby many of the Myrtle Beach golf courses. A Myrtle Beach golf package will include lodging which affords you spectacular views of the ocean, the marshes and of course the green. These Myrtle Beach golf packages also give you discounts and guaranteed tee times at many of the area’s best courses. Your package will also include cart rentals with GPS and automated scoring. You can find any equipment you need at the many pro shops and even have clubs custom made for you right here in Myrtle Beach.

The ideal weather, beachside location, excellent seafood in Murrell’s Inlet (South Carolina’s seafood Mecca) and the many golf superstores will make everyone on your trip happy. Myrtle Beach offers something for everyone, whether they are a golfer or not. Scuba diving, deep sea fishing, surfing and of course hanging out on the beach are all popular with vacationers. The Little River area also offers riverboat gambling. A Myrtle Beach golf vacation gives you luxury accommodations, the excitement of golfing on some of the world’s most famous and most challenging courses and endless variety. Myrtle Beach golf courses are available for any time of year - however, if you come between March and May or in October, you may have a hard time securing a tee time unless you have confirmed your vacation plans well ahead of time.

While there are some golf courses at Myrtle Beach that offer very secluded locations, many are in the heart of all of the action. The great thing is that the way the golf courses are structured, even those just yards away from the beach traffic are stunningly quiet and tranquil and you will forget that you are just steps away from some of the busiest streets on the Grand Strand.

Malindi town, located 120km north of Mombasa is one of the most popular tourist destinations along the East African coastline. Malindi has a 155km coastline that boasts idyllic beaches offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. The extensive beaches are a paradise of sun and sand and are fringed with towering palm trees that sway tirelessly as if to portray the unending fun that abounds in the Kenyan coastal town.

Malindi town was founded by Arab traders in the 13th Century as their main trade centre along the Indian Ocean. At that time the economy depended on fishing, hunting, agriculture and salt collection. By 1498 when Vasco da Gama reached Malindi, the town had already become both a kingdom and a wealthy town. The then inhabitants of the town comprised Arabs - the ruling class, Africans and a few Indians. And because of the region’s monsoon winds, Malindi became an important port in East Africa as it formed the base from which places all over the Indian Ocean could be reached.

Malindi’s splendor was however overtaken by that of the neighbouring town of Mombasa in 1593 after the construction of the Portuguese Fort Jesus. Many traditional buildings survive in Malindi among them a mosque and a palace placed right on the beach that attracts numerous tourists.

The tropical beaches and waters, plus the Watamu and Malindi Marine parks are among the main tourist attractions in Malindi. Established in 1968, these marine national parks were the first of their kind in Africa and are ideal locations for snorkeling and diving. You can see plenty of multi-colored fishes in the coral gardens that abound in the marine parks.

Another major tourist attraction in Malindi are the Gede ruins, which are the remains of an abandoned 17th century town. In 1927, the ruins were declared historic monuments, leading to a lot of excavation activities that eventually revealed a great mosque, a palace, and pillar tombs in this ancient town.

Marafa depression, popularly known as Hell’s Kitchen, is a subject of many local myths in Malindi. This extensive area northwest of Malindi has a unique landscape consisting of huge gullies and sandstone valleys. It is also known as Nyari by the local community.

Malindi has earned a reputation as a gourmet’s haven, with the restaurants, coffeehouses, and hotels in Malindi providing a wide array of local and international cuisine. The town’s residents include the local Swahili people, plus a considerable number of investors of Italian descent. Together, the residents have ensured that Malindi remains one of the most welcoming and most friendly tourist destinations in the world. More than 50% of the Malindi population relies on tourism either directly or indirectly.

Weather at the East African Coast is generally hot and humid all the year round. In Malindi, the long rains fall from April to July, while October to November is the short rains season. Daily average temperatures range between 22 degrees and 30.5 degrees Celsius. For a tourist, the best time to go to Malindi is from December to April.

Getting to Malindi both by air and by road is quite easy. The town has an airport which several Kenya airlines use for daily scheduled flights to and from Malindi. Malindi airport also serves many chartered flights. You can therefore fly into Malindi from Nairobi, Mombasa or Lamu, or you can use the many buses and matatus from Mombasa to Malindi in the North coast. Most hotels and tourist resorts in Malindi can also arrange vehicle transfers for you.

Airplanes, taxi’s, buses, cars and train can be used to travel from Glasgow airport. The airport is ideally situated about eight mile from the city center making it an easy and accessible for travel. You should contact the airport if you are unsure of your travel options or simply desire more information.

Travel by train is a fantastic way to get around and there is a train stop about two miles from the airport. Shuttles run regularly between the airport and rail station and you can also take a short taxi ride to meet your train. You can then travel to many points in Glasgow and beyond depending on your destination. Trains run regularly throughout the day.

There are many taxi companies in Glasgow, over 450, and you can get special rate for airport travel. Be picked up at the airport and dropped off at your hotel or home without having to remember where you parked your car or what side of the road you should be driving on. A detailed description of the taxi services can be obtained by contacting the companies.

There are also public buses that stop at the terminal. Charter buses make stops at the coach park adjacent to the international arrivals gate. The Citylink and Fairline buses can take you to various locations throughout Glasgow, including the bus and railway stations. Fare is around six pounds for a return ticket. It should take about 25 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre.

There are a few different options if you wish to travel by car. You can hire a car from one of the many companies at the airport. Store your car if you are leaving it at the airport in wither short or long-term parking. Additionally you can be dropped or picked up at specified locations. Traveling from Glasgow airport is easy and you will be sure to enjoy your flight and time spent in the city.

A Las Vegas trip can be the golf vacation of a lifetime. But if you haven’t thought things through you’ll spend more tme worrying than golfing. With just a little forethought, you can make sure your trip is worry free, keeping your blood pressure, and your score, as low as possible.

First things first. Take a good hard look before selecting a golf package or a discount golf vacation. An abundance of courses means there’s plenty of places to play in Vegas, but they’re not all the same. Extra time spent reading reviews online, and making sure the place you’re staying or playing is reputable will be well worth your while.

When you’re budgeting, make sure you leave yourself some room in your wallet for the unexpected. Vegas makes it easy to spend money, and there’s plenty you may have missed. A more basic golf package might make it easier to have a good time without worrying you might have to win your trip home at the tables.

Some costs to keep in mind when budgeting your trip are such standard expenses as caddies, gratuities, parking fees, groceries, and transportation to and from courses off-resort. Make sure to keep extra handy for any little expenses that might pop up.

Packing for golf means packing accessories, and quite a few things are better remembered before the trip than once you get there. Before your flight, make sure you’ve packed things like a hat, chapstick, sunscreen, sunglasses, pain relievers, and band aids. These things may be so common you forget about them at home, but, out on the course they can have a big effect on whether you enjoy your game.

Flying these days is notoriously difficult, and bringing golf clubs along can make it more so. This is especially true because airline baggage policies regarding your clubs vary widely by carrier. Check online for the specifics for your flight. That way there won’t be any surprises at the check-in counter.

When you get to Vegas, check-in at your resort or hotel should include checking to see if the hotel is offering any upgrades. A better room or a better deal may just require asking for it. Online reviews may provide clues as to what they’ve offered other people.

Whether you’re travelling by yourself or with friends, it’s hard to go wrong with a golf package deal. But if you remember just a few basic things, there’s much less chance a little detail will make your trip a bad memory. Like many things in life, when it comes to golf in Vegas it pays to plan.

Make sure that your first vacation with your baby is a success. Take some time and do some upfront planning.

by Jen Stoddart

Make sure that your first vacation with your baby is a success. Take some time and do some upfront planning.

Here are ten tips to follow to help you when planning your trip.

1. If your vacation plans involve traveling to a remote location, or if your plans include time on a cruise ship make sure that you have made arrangements for food and water for your baby. If you are off to a major city in North America or Europe you will be able to purchase the required items when you arrive.

2. Be self-sufficient when it comes to medications. Bring the medications that your baby may need for fevers, upset stomach, rashes, ear infections and diarrhea.

3. Accommodations. Think about reserving a room with a balcony that you can comfortably sit on viewing the ocean, or overlooking a mountain range. You can count on spending more time in your room as your baby will need their regular nap times. If your room has a balcony you and your spouse can still enjoy your time together - sitting on the balcony - while your baby gets their needed sleep.

4. Don’t plan on being as busy as you were on trips before baby. You can’t just go-go-go. Take time to stop periodically, and play with the baby. If there are some sites or adventures that one of you just has to see - agree up front that there will be times when one parent heads off on their own to see or do what is important to them while the other parent tends to the baby.

5. Our babies love to sleep in the stroller. That is great when we are at home - but not always so great on a vacation. If your baby is in their stroller too much during the day they may end up having too much daytime sleep making it difficult for them to sleep at night. During the day plan for regular breaks to get the baby out of their stroller and play with them at a park, or place a blanket on the ground and spend some time playing with them outside of their stroller.

6. As much as possible avoid connecting flights when air travel is part of your vacation plan. Taking off, landing and rushing through airports to get to your connecting flights is never easy and is even more difficult when traveling with a baby.

7. If you plan on bringing a travel bed with you on your trip don’t wait for the vacation to get the baby accustomed to sleeping in it. A couple of days prior to your trip let the baby start sleeping in it to get them used to it.

8. If you are renting a car during your vacation consider bringing your own car seat. That way you will know how to install the seat in the rental car and you will know that is a safe and comfortable seat for them to ride in.

9. Make sure your child has the necessary vaccinations. See your child’s doctor six to eight weeks before you intend to travel, especially if visiting developing countries.

10. You will need many items for the baby during the trip - they won’t take up much room when you pack - but you will want to make sure that you have everything that you need. Make a list of the items that you will need for the baby during the trips. And review the list before you go and make sure that you have everything with you that you will need.

An Egypt holiday is one of the most memorable and rewarding holidays that you can possibly take due to the wide range of activities, historic value, sites, and travel options available.

by Jared Conley

An Egypt holiday is one of the most memorable and rewarding holidays that you can possibly take due to the wide range of activities, historic value, sites, and travel options available.

When most people think of Egypt, they picture monuments, pyramids, and the desert. But there is much more to Egypt than that, and each location has its own offering from the others. For example, Alexandria and Luxor are well-known for their historic value, Hurghada and Sharm are well-known for their beaches, resorts, and watersports, Cairo is known for its culture, and so on.

You will also find that travel to Egypt is modestly priced, with accommodations, airfare, and entertainment being very reasonable considering its popularity. Of course, that does not take into account the price of adult beverages, which can be very expensive.

Unfortunately, due to the large number of varied activities, if you want to participate in a variety, e.g. exploring the beaches of Sharm Egypt, then on to Luxor or a Nile River cruise with a horseback ride or safari along the way, your travel plans become much more complicated. Luckily there are a good number of qualified travel guides who can assist you with numerous plans, from group tours to fully escorted Egypt packages.

For do-it-yourselfers like me, there are some excellent travel guides that will give you the inside scoop on destinations, customs, and prices, which will all be immensely helpful in planning your trip. But this is not a valid approach for everyone, because we all have different tolerance levels for chaos!

One of the aspects of Egypt that struck me even more than the surroundings was the people, who are largely friendly, hospitable, and helpful. Ask a local a question, and you’re likely to draw a crowd of people with suggestions on the best answer!

A popular fear when traveling to Africa or the Middle East is one of safety, but Egypt is one of the safer destinations you can visit. Aside from the tourist bombings in 2005, purportedly orchestrated by Egyptian radicals bent on ruining Egypt’s rich tourism industry, Egypt is largely free from violent crime. Pick pocketing is the most common form of crime, but security is placed in most public places to discourage this from happening.

The best time for Egypt travel is between November and March, when the temperatures are the most accommodating. During this time, you’ll likely see temperatures in the 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit range. Of course, this is also the most expensive time to travel! If you’re willing to brave the off-season heat, you will be able to find some incredible deals on lodging.

Egypt packages are a great approach to what will be one of the most memorable vacations during your lifetime, almost assuredly. Prepare fully, plan in advance, and enjoy one of the most beautiful regions in the world, along with one of the original seven wonders.

Flying in a private plane is lavishly convenient and a huge time saver. No more waiting in line forever, no song and dance with weighing your luggage, no security checks, no delays, no missed connections, and no hassle. Small planes at small airports have raised security requirements and commercial airports have only gotten bigger and more bureaucratic. Doesnat a private plane just make more sense?

Taking a luxury jet, however, isn’t free. A chartered flight from LA to San Francisco, for instance, will set you back about $12,000. Private planes have always been an expensive way to travel. It used to be that only celebrities, CEOs, and other fabulously wealthy people could afford private jet travel.

New programs have been made to make private jets more accessible to everyone. A new group of wealthy leisure travelers are using private planes out of less congested airports. They pay for their flights using one of a growing list of membership programs. One of the original luxury travel company is now moving clientele to favorite travel destinations like Aspen and Palm Beach to as far east as Asia and Australia using discount programs.

It isnat just the leisure traveler that can benefit from membership in this program. Corporations can enroll their traveling businessmen to save even more moneyiaafter all, time is money and theyare losing it when one of their top employees is stuck for hours on end in a crowded airport. The corporation can set a more predictable itinerary for the trip if they are in control of the process with a private jet.

It’s also difficult for corporations not to waste time and money when they need to work with the schedule of a big airline if a meeting is on Thursday evening in Philadelphia but the only scheduled flights are on Thursday morning, they have no choice but to send a representative there to waste much of the day waiting around for the meeting. With chartered planes, however, the corporation has complete control of the flight schedule. Time in the air is even better spent because of the increased space and privacy afforded by private jet.

Several tips that you might consider before scheduling that dream trip, use the internet to canvass the most suitable luxury travel company for you or listen to trusted friends who have already tried such flights. Be ready with extra cash, other charges and expenses may surprise you.

When the urge hits to take a family vacation, a romantic getaway with that special someone, or the business trip with your coworkers, remember how much better the whole experience could be with private jet travel. It could be costly but the convenience and peace of mind youall get will be well worth the dollars you spend.

Inland sport fishing is gaining prominence as a top leisure activity in Tanzania tourism. In Tanzania’s national parks and wildlife reserves, fishing is forbidden. However, the rivers and freshwater lakes in Tanzania provide visitors with numerous sport fishing possibilities.

Tanzania rivers and their tributaries host plenty of fish especially during and immediately after the rainy seasons. It is therefore most advisable that you take your sports fishing safari after the short rains in November and December, or after the long rains in April and May. The best fishing spots in Tanzania include Mwanza, Musoma, Rufiji River, and Lake Tanganyika.

For the sports fishing safari enthusiast looking for the best fishing experience in Tanzania, there are a number of Tanzania tour and safari companies that organize fishing safaris. At the Lake Victoria ports of Mwanza and Musoma, you can also find friendly boatmen who will easily let you go with them on their daily fishing trips. Lake Victoria is Africa’s largest lake and hosts diverse tropical freshwater fish species that are often exported to aquariums the world over.

Mwanza town, a port city on the Southern part of lake Victoria, is one of the best places to get started with sports fishing in Tanzania. Mwanza hosts huge Nile Perch and Tilapia, and is without doubt a popular safari destination for a fishing safari in Tanzania. Mwanza is also the cultural centre of the Sukuma, Tanzania’s largest ethnic group.

Musoma, on the other hand, sits on the eastern edge of Lake Victoria near the Kenyan border and has plenty of Nile Perch - locally known as Sangara or Chengu. The port has plenty of boats to take visitors across the lake. Lake Victoria is the largest tropical lake in the world and second largest freshwater lake in terms of surface area. The lake’s shoreline is 3440 km and has more than 3000 islands many of which are inhabited.

Lake Tanganyika is another popular fishing safari destination in Tanzania. Stretching across four countries - Burundi, DRC, Zambia, and Tanzania - lake Tanganyika is the world’s second largest freshwater lake by volume after lake Baikal in Siberia. The lake is home to over 350 fish species , including the Goliath Tiger Fish and the Nile Perch. Lake Tanganyika has over 2000 plant and animal species, of which 600 are not found anywhere else in the world.

The largest river in Tanzania, Rufiji River, provides opportunity for both salty water and freshwater fishing. The 21 lakes in the Rufiji floodplain area, plus the hundreds of ponds and creeks are the grounds for freshwater fishing. During the annual floods, these lakes and creeks fill up and yield good fish catches. Saltwater fishing takes place at the sandbanks off the Rufiji Delta near the coast, where good conditions exist for prawn fishing.

Aside from inland sport fishing, fly fishing along the rivers and large streams of Tanzania is also a popular activity among visitors.

People today tend to marvel at the accomplishments of ancient civilizations, such as demonstrated by the pyramids of Egypt. Those ancient people had such creativity and intelligence, and they did not have TV or radio to entertain themselves. Instead, they relied upon their minds for entertainment, creativity, and solutions to problems.

Every once in a while, when media gets dull and our minds need sharpening, people will turn to riddles and brain twisters. It’s how we explore our thought processes, and how we develop our creativity. Without puzzles and riddles, our brains become stagnant. Humans innately love and need activities that twist the mind and form new ideas.

Some of our most enduring games and puzzles were based on the ideas of ancient peoples, with changes and innovations applied along the way. Beautiful in its simplicity yet intoxicatingly challenging, Sudoku is one of the games that may well have existed since the ancient times. The history of Sudoku is as interesting as the puzzle itself.

The word “Sudoku” is another name for “number place”. Derived from the Japanese language, “Sudoku” refers to a logic-based placement. A type of puzzle game, in other words. The first Sudoku puzzle was published in 1979, in a US magazine. The puzzle traveled to Japan, where it exploded with popularity. If translated into English phrases, the name “Sudoku” would actually be “the digits must remain single”, though the word Sudoku is actually an abbreviation of the original Japanese name. The name has gathered various manners of pronunciation in different countries, but the basic standards of the game have not been altered. The puzzle enhances your mental processes. There are simple basic rules to follow when solving a Sudoku puzzle.

Sudoku was created by Howard Garns at the end of his career as a puzzle maker. A retired architect, Garns enjoyed making puzzles as a freelancer, and he knew how to make a great one. He based it on the Latin Square puzzle work by Euler, an ancient game that Garns improved by adding a third dimension. With the addition of a partially completed grid, Garns had a winner on his hands that players immediately loved.

Once the game had arrived in Japan, a few years after its invention, its name was changed from “Number Place” to “Sudoku.” A Japanese company copyrighted the name later on, and helped launch the game to Europe and around the world.

Originally, players always found newspapers or puzzle magazines for the source of new games, but in 1989 a computer version of Sudoku was introduced. Some people have even created a three dimensional version based on Rubik’s Cube.

Sudoku reached huge global popularity by 1997, and a Hong Kong resident named Wayne Gould created a computer program to create the game, which can spit out thousands of variations in short time. He later developed a business selling the puzzles around the world.

Nationwide, newspapers would print the puzzles and sell out quickly. World media acknowledged Sudoku as the “fastest growing puzzle in the world”. By 2005, Sudoku was at the peak of its popularity.

Though the puzzle alone is fascinating, the history of Sudoku adds something to the playing of the game as well. Ancient beginnings, modern computer technology, and a cross-cultural acceptance have all led to its current status. Say a thanks to Howard Garns, for bringing hours of puzzle pleasures to our lives.

Shimoni and Wasini Island are among the best grounds for snorkeling and scuba diving in the South Coast region of Kenya. Situated 76 km south of Likoma, near the Kenya-Tanzanian border, the village of Shimoni is renowned for the famous Shimoni Caves where well-preserved wooden crates that were used to transport slaves to Arabia among other artifacts can be found. Shimoni is also the launching point for Wasini Island which is located just a few minutes from the village.

Wasini Island is a small traditional fishing centre located close to Tanzania that has remained unchanged for ages. The island is popular for the Ancient Swahili ruins and the coral gardens; a landscape of exposed coral reefs. Wasini has an Arab settlement dating back to the 18th and 19th Century and it features ruins of ancient architecture. The 6 sq km island has no cars or roads and is generally reached by dhow. The coral island is occupied by the friendly fuba people(an indigenous group of the Niger Congo, Bantu speaking dialect) who speak Swahili and Kifuba. The fuba population is about 1500.

Kenya’s most accessible marine park, the Kisite-Mpunguti marine national park, is situated just next to Wasini Island, about 75 miles south of Mombasa. Kisite boasts of a wide variety of fishes and coral, and has excellent weather conditions for diving all through the year. Snorkeling can also be done from the reef of a large rocky islet and the beautiful sand bar that appears above the blue ocean during low tide.

Wasini and the Kisite marine park are a snorkelers’ and divers’ haven, and host a great diversity of plant and animal life in the protected areas. There is an interesting and prolific bird-life there including the fish eagle and the rare palm-nut vulture.

At the Shimoni compex, Green and hawksbill turtles, and seven species of dolphin have been found. Visitors to this area get to see the dolphins and the turtles daily. In October and November, Humpback whales can be seen during their yearly migration.

Several fish have been observed in the area, and most fall into the following families - Large Wrasse, Emperors, Puffer fish, Butterfly fish, Trigger fish, Snappers and Groupers. The specific species found include Scorpion fish, Parrot fish, Wrasses, Moray eels, Cardinal fish, angel fish, Damsel fish and rays.

The main site for snorkeling is the fringing reef near Kisite Island at the centre of the park. This site is accessible by dhow, or, during low tide, from the beach. There are several sites for diving, many of which fall within the park and within the reserve. Mpunguti ya Chini and Mpunguti ya Juu are two uninhabited islands found behind Wasini Island.

You can get to Wasini Island from Mombasa by taking a bus or taxi from Likoni to Shimoni. Mpunguti Restaurant operate a dhow at Shimoni that will then take you to the Island.
